From Footings to Finish

When you hire CC's Decor, you get one crew from start to finish. We do not subcontract any part of the build. The same team that digs the footings is the same team that installs the last railing post. That is how we maintain quality and stay on schedule.

What to Expect During Construction

Before we start, we walk you through the entire process so there are no surprises. Here is what a typical deck build looks like.

  • Permits and prep: We pull all required building permits and call in utility locates before breaking ground.
  • Footings and foundation: We dig and pour concrete footings to the depth required by local code. In Wisconsin, that means below the frost line.
  • Framing: We install the ledger board, posts, beams, and joists. This is the structural skeleton of your deck.
  • Decking: We install the deck boards, whether that is cedar, composite, or hardwood. Every board is inspected and properly fastened.
  • Railings and stairs: We build and install railings to code, along with any stairs or landings your design requires.
  • Finishing and cleanup: We apply stain or sealant if applicable, clean up all construction debris, and walk you through the finished deck.

Timeline

Most residential decks take 1 to 3 weeks from the first day of construction to the final walkthrough. Larger or more complex projects, such as multi-level decks or decks with built-in features, may take longer. We will give you a clear timeline before we start and keep you updated throughout the build.

Quality and Warranty

We stand behind our work. Every deck we build is constructed to meet or exceed local building codes. We use quality fasteners, flashing, and hardware throughout. If something is not right, we fix it.

Composite materials come with manufacturer warranties that we will walk you through. For wood decks, the longevity of your deck depends on proper maintenance, and we will give you clear instructions on what to do and when.

Construction FAQs

Yes. If your old deck needs to be torn out before we can build the new one, we handle the demolition and disposal as part of the project.

We keep the work area contained and safe. Depending on the size of the project, parts of your yard may be temporarily inaccessible, but we minimize disruption as much as possible.

We can build in colder months depending on conditions. Footing work requires unfrozen ground, but framing and decking can sometimes be done in late fall or early spring. Call us and we will let you know what is feasible for your timeline.
